Eat yourself healthier this winter
Eating a balanced diet can help you keep warm and healthy this winter. The benefits may include:
- boosting your immune system
- helping you fight off colds
- making you feel more energetic
- reducing your blood pressure and risk of heart disease and stroke
Some of the best ways to achieve this are to:
- have at least one hot meal a day
- have hot drinks throughout the day and one before bedtime
- keep a flask with a hot drink in it by your bed in case you feel cold at night
- concentrate on foods that are high in fibre and low in sugar, salt and fat
- have at least five portions of fruit or vegetables each day
