Sports charities help keep over 60s healthy
Two of the UK’s biggest charities are teaming up to run a programme to help keep over 60s healthy and active.
The Football Foundation and Sport Relief are each donating £250,000 and fifteen professional football clubs are also involved. If the initiative is successful then more are expected to become involved.
The charities are focusing on two key objectives:
- the link between physical activity and stronger bones
- social exclusion of older people
Kevin Cahill, Chief Executive, Sport Relief said: “We are proud to be a part of a programme that will provide a fantastic service for older people, improving their health and fitness as well as strengthening social and community links.”
